Memorial Day Weekend!

This was a long and awesome weekend. Our family, Aunt Kelly, Uncle Shawn and crew, along with Mrs. Christy, Mr. Steven and Brianna went camping in Glen Rose to see the Dinosaur parks since the kids are REALLY into dinosaurs right now. The kids had so much fun and so did the adults. We set up camp on Saturday morning, ate lunch and headed off to Dinosaur Valley. We went hiking, wading in the river searching for dinosaur footprints, changed clothes to go swimming at Big Rock Park (the Daddies and Kyler went fishing) across from our campground (ofcourse we had to stop and get a snow cone on the way) and went back to camp and set up the pool for the kids to play while we fixed cheeseburgers and hot dogs for dinner. An action packed first day that couldn't be ended with out the all time camp dessert...SMORES! The kiddos had the best time roasting marshmallows but didn't want to eat them so about half way through the bag we had "distractions" to allow us to chunk some into the trees since we couldn't eat one more "Made for you" marshmallows. Sunday morning we fixed an amazing breakfast of pancakes, bacon, sausage and eggs. Who could ask for more! Then we were off to Dino World, oh wow! This place was too cool. The kids got to see replicas of over 100 dinosaurs and read about what they ate and where they lived, they got to go on a fossil dig and play on the playground. After all was done we went to camp ate lunch and headed to the river for more snow cones and swimming this time with the Daddies. It was so nice. We left to start up the grill for chicken, hot dogs, beans, potato salad, macaroni salad and green beans, YUMMY! Again ended the day with visiting around the campfire and roasting marshmallows on the coolest sticks picked and carved by Mr. Steven. I was really impressed with how brave the kids were with hiking and the river. Kyler looked like a water monkey climbing the rocks in the river, he made me nervous but he did great! Mandy had a great time splashing around and "swimming". I know now they are really ready for swim lessons this summer. This morning we were up and eating an easy breakfast while we packed and loaded to head home. Unfortunately a few of our camp members got sick and Mandy is still running a fever. Hopefully it will be gone in the morning. I am thankful that our children love the outdoors and are so adventurous, they were great sports (even with the time out cooler). All in all can't wait to do it again!
